Firefighters keep child calm with a movie at crash scene

A single vehicle crash in D’Iberville Mississippi ended with multiple people ejected from the SUV. All six people had to be transported via EMS.

During the response one child, who was on a backboard, needed to wait to be loaded into an ambulance D’Iberville firefighters made sure to keep him calm and not create undo stress.

According to the SunHerald

D’Iberville firefighter Casey Lessard lay on the ground next to one young crash victim, holding a cellphone so the child could watch the animated film “Happy Feet.”

D’Ibervile Fire Capt. Darren Peterson said his firefighters do everything they can to calm and comfort children involved in traumas such as this.

“The kids … we do whatever we can to calm them down,” Peterson said. “The video calmed him down instantly.”

This is some great work. There’s nothing more uplifting than hearing about a brother willing to go above and beyond. I know almost anyone of you who are reading this, and work in public safety, would do the same thing.
