We had a tragedy here in Wisconsin with a K9 officer this week. Wix a hard working dedicated working dog died of heat related complications.

There have been a number of news stories in the last few months of firefighters, police officers, and EMS workers getting in trouble over social media. The guys from Keep Calm and Train Your Rookie posted the blow video today.

It seems you can't go too far on any social media stream with out encountering an anti police story. Heck there are also a few anti-fire and anti-EMS stories creeping up more often. I bring this up because today I saw an anti-police meme that takes some liberties with reality.

On Friday a police officer in Wauwatosa, WI was shot during a robbery. The suspect fled police and was caught a day later hiding in the basement of a friend's house. That friend told local new reporters the suspect did not do anything wrong "he just shot a cop".

I am sure by now you have heard about the shooting at the the Dallas police headquarters overnight. A man in a armored truck opened fire on the building and according to some news reports also planted explosives. Interesting how the tide against the police has shifted the last year. The past few months have been hard to work in Law Enforcement. It seems us Police officers now can't do anything right. Arrest a bad guy we are the villains for being aggressive. Fail to arrest a bad guy and we are lazy incompetent buffoons.

A few weeks ago a buddy of mine asked me to help be involved in a convention he was helping to plan called the Writers Police Academy. At first I was unsure of helping at this event so he sent me links news stories and blog posts about past Writers Academy events. One was from Author Lisa Gardner talking about her new release Crash & Burn.

Last week the Department of Justice released their findings in a report about the operations of the Ferguson Police department. Much of the report focuses on revenue generation as a focus before true law enforcement. I am so happy my department is not a revenue source for our city.

Over the weekend protestors in Denver defaced a memorial for fallen Denver police. According to many news accounts the Denver police were ordered to allow this criminal damage to property. Brotherhood does not turn a blind eye to uniforms and patches.

Last night I was watching some talking head on the news saying that police have stopped protecting as in the old adage of Protect and Serve. So I decided to run some numbers. Now I can't speak for the full USA but here in my community we saved people, with out killing anyone!
