So we stop by a favorite local bar for their Wednesday happy hour and Wings special (Actually we were not drinking, we just wanted the cheep wings). Getting out of the car I can’t help but to glance into the window of the car we are parked next to… guess what I see sitting on the seat.

It seems nearly every week there is a news story about someone in Public Safety getting in trouble for something they do on a social media web page. A dumb tweet on twitter. An inappropriate photo posted to Facebook. Even simply click “like” on a controversial posting on Facebook made by someone else.

This weekend we will be hosting the physical fitness testing portion of our departments hiring process. It is not exactly a hard test but people do need some preparation to ensure they exceed the minimum passing scores. Note how I said EXCEED the minimum scores.

I know I have not been posting much of personal musings or observations lately. But never fear I will likely start to grace you all with my somewhat witty yet rambling opinions again. I have come to believe that we as humans are programed to never be happy. Yes we have moments of happiness but overall no matter where we are we will find something wrong with it. Like the guy who bitches when he wins $5 million that he only truly gets like $2.6 million because of taxes, dude shut up your still a heck of a lot richer today ...

The last few weeks have been interesting for public safety. Then again most every week tends to be interesting in some way or another. The interesting bit I am talking about is the news about wage cuts and pension cuts. OK Ok… this is nothing new we have had these issues for some time, but two stories seem, to me, a bit shocking.

Every agency has one, some have two or more. That jerk that will bring you and others around you down for little to no reason. For some they are a bully. For others they see knocking you down as a stepping stone for their advancement. No matter the reason remember your brother and sisters have your back
