What I am thankful for on Thanksgiving 2015

Today is a day we set aside to reflect on what we can be grateful for. For our ancestors, it was a day to celebrate the end of the harvest season. A good mean to celebrate hard work and the acknowledgment of getting the supplies to survive the winter.

First I am thankful for a job I love. From a very young age, I wanted to be a police officer. Not everyone gets to live out their dreams. I, however am able to do what I want to be doing and enjoy going into work each shift. It helps that I have a great group of people. In addition, I have some family that is out of work or underemployed (working only part-time or for temp agencies) so having a stable income is a blessing.

Secondly I am thankful for a family that supports me. Working odd hours, overtime shifts, special events, working holidays and all the other craziness that comes with working public safety. The people around me understand, at least they act like they understand, the reality of being part of my life.

Third I am thankful for all of you who visit RescueHumor. This site was firs created many years ago on a lark. I had no plans or asperations to do much with it. Over the years, it has grown and grown. Doing this page has helped with some opportunities I might never otherwise had. As it relates here to 2015 this year I saw the release of my fiction novel titled Fire Cop. Had I not been doing this site I might never have actually sat down and written that book. The reason I do this site is because of people such as yourself that are kind enough to stop by.

Happy Thanksgiving 2015!
