Last week I had the good fortune to work for a special event at our local community college campus. It was a citizens academy but this was not for our local citizens. It was only for authors, mostly writers of mystery novels.

We had a tragedy here in Wisconsin with a K9 officer this week. Wix a hard working dedicated working dog died of heat related complications.

There have been a number of news stories in the last few months of firefighters, police officers, and EMS workers getting in trouble over social media. The guys from Keep Calm and Train Your Rookie posted the blow video today.

It seems you can't go too far on any social media stream with out encountering an anti police story. Heck there are also a few anti-fire and anti-EMS stories creeping up more often. I bring this up because today I saw an anti-police meme that takes some liberties with reality.

EMS personally are being shot at by someone in Milwaukee. Several rounds hit the ambulance and one nicked a firefighter. He was treated at the hospital and released.

A friend sent me a listing from Craig's List. It is for a 1967 Ford C600 Fire Engine converted into a food truck. He sent it to me as a joke due to a discussion we had a few years about buying an engine our old Volunteer Fire Department was selling.

On Friday a police officer in Wauwatosa, WI was shot during a robbery. The suspect fled police and was caught a day later hiding in the basement of a friend's house. That friend told local new reporters the suspect did not do anything wrong "he just shot a cop".

I am sure by now you have heard about the shooting at the the Dallas police headquarters overnight. A man in a armored truck opened fire on the building and according to some news reports also planted explosives. Interesting how the tide against the police has shifted the last year.
